PESACH FOOD DONATIONS NEEDED
The Student Council’s Pesach food barrels are SLOWLY starting to fill up. Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley will distribute your donations of food to the needy of our community, so their celebrations of Pesach will be a joyous one.
It is not too late to donate items for the Pesach Food Drive.  Food barrels will be available outside of school for wrapped Kosher for Pesach 2007 food items; please bring them in now.  Examples of requested food items are matzo, matzo ball soup in a jar, gefilte fish, macaroons, and wine.
Your donations will be very much appreciated.

ENROLLMENT ’07
Contracts for the upcoming school year will be mailed to parents who have re-enrolled their children.
Please be aware that we are unable to issue contracts until we have received an enrollment form.

IS IT “I” BEFORE “E”?
The spelling mavens from grades 2 – 8 will participate in the school’s annual Spelling Bee.  It is always exciting as students fly by those words with which they are familiar and then slow down, in deep thought, for the words that are not so common.
Preliminary classroom spelling bees will be held with the top two students, in each grade, going to the finals.  There will be two divisions:  grades 2 – 4 and grades 5 – 8.
Join us on Thursday, March 22nd at 10:30 a.m., in the MPR, for an interesting and challenging activity.

IT OVERFLOWED!
It’s already happened…the Lost and Found has overflowed…from the clothing rack onto tables.  Please check the Lost and Found to find your children’s missing items.  With Pesach vacation starting in a couple of weeks we would like to have as much clothing reclaimed as soon as possible.  Thanks for your cooperation.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
Not only was the Scholastic Book Fair highly successful it was a lot of fun.  In addition to selecting books, both in English and Hebrew, the students and their parents enjoyed sharing activities with each other.
At Tuesday night’s Family Night at the Book Fair grade students designed a “build-a-book” either on their own or with their parents.  They created individualized books about their pets, families or anything that they liked or enjoyed doing, and on Wednesday, the preschool children and their parents did the same.  In addition to purchasing books they bought soft ware, school supplies and fun items such as stickers and fuzzy pencils.

We appreciate and thank all the volunteers who helped in the different facets of the book fair, without your help it wouldn’t have been as successful.  To chair Anat Faigon, Joelle Pluemer, DeeAnn Hazani, Holly Mendel and Yaffa Borison a big Todah Rabah!

Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer is the book selection for April. It is about a  young Jewish American who travels to the Ukraine in the hope of finding the woman who saved his grandfather from the Nazis. Alex Perchov, a naïve Ukrainian translator and his grandfather were the guides on the journey through Eastern Europe.

GAN AVIV SUMMER CAMP
Back by popular demand!
After an absence of a number of years we are pleased to announce the return of our summer camp program for preschoolers and kindergartners.  Children who will be 3 years old by December 1st, 2007 through children entering Kindergarten this September will also be qualified.
There will be 2 two week sessions, the first from June 25th – July 6th and the second from July 9th – 20th.  Camp hours will be from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and extended day care will be available from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
It will be an action-packed, fun, summer camping experience with many activities planned.  Mr. Dave will be there with Hot Shot Sports; challah baking for Shabbat, water play, art activities, themed weeks and much, much more.
Going by past camp experiences, we know the children will have a “blast.”
Brochures and registration forms are available.
