DELICIOUS LUNCH PROGRAM
With a new school year - comes a new lunch menu…and the reviews are
There have been very positive reactions from both students and staff to the new lunch program. “So-o-o good,” “really, really yummy,” “tov maod,” “tasty,” “ma’adan” and “I love it,” are some of the comments overheard in the Sukkah this week.
The following is the menu for the rest of October with possible changes next month, check the Chai-Lights for them. Mondays – macaroni and cheese, Tuesdays – pizza, Wednesdays – hot dogs, Thursdays – spaghetti, Fridays – fish sticks and French fries. All meals will include salads, fresh fruit, water or juice.
INCREDIBLE, EDIBLE SUKKAHS
The 4th graders in Morah Haviva Braun’s class had a finger-licking, creative and delicious time making sukkot out of marshmallow fluff, tea biscuits and green sour sticks. The marshmallow fluff was the glue that connected the tea biscuits to the sukkah sides, and the green sour sticks were the “schach.” What a sweet way to celebrate Succot!
KINDERGARTEN OPEN HOUSE/ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Families whose children will be entering Kindergarten in September 2007 are invited, with their children, to an open house/ice cream social on Sunday afternoon, October 29th, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the school.
The afternoon's activities will center on a typical Kindergarten day at SPHDS. The program will include arts and crafts, games with our physical education instructor, as well as a tour of the campus, a visit to our library, and hands on fun in the Benhamou Computer Center led by Chris, our computer teacher.

GAN AVIV’S NEW PROGRAM
This year the Chaverim class (N/6) has embarked on a new journey for students who will be 5 between October ’06 and January ’07; the class is the Young 5’s.
During the school day, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., their class time is filled with a variety of enrichment activities. The curriculum includes Hebrew language, book making, creative dramatics and an introduction to a phonemic awareness program called Zoo Phonics. They study in small groups so the student-teacher ratio is very low.
The curriculum is both challenging and creative and the students are enthusiastically involved in the whole learning process.
