Astoria Drive will be resurfaced with a chip seal and the street will be closed to cars. Cars will need to be parked on other streets and not within 100 feet of “No Parking” signs or cars will be towed. If inclement weather is forecast for these days then the work will be postponed.

GAN AVIV HAPPENINGS
TASHLICH IN GAN AVIV
Erev Rosh Hashanah all pre-Kindergarten classes gathered for a Tashlich program. They sang Rosh Hashanah songs; had a blast when Hillel Levin, Aidyn’s father, blew shofar; enjoyed listening to “A Rosh Hashanah Walk,” a story about Tashlich; did a “mock” Tashlich walk outside their classrooms; and capped the activity with delicious Rosh Hashanah foods - honeycake, apples and honey.
Many thanks to Mr. Levin for his shofar blowing expertise.

YOUNG FIVE PROGRAM
The new “Young Five” class has gotten off to a fabulous start. The class meets until 1:00 p.m. and the extra hour allows for a broader program…there is more time for in-depth theme discussions, writing and charting of the children’s ideas, movement, dramatics and music to go along with the themes. It is both conceptual and creative.
In the “All About Me” unit, the children’s bodies were measured in popsicle stick lengths, counting one stick at a time for a “one to one correspondence” math skill concept. The students are creating individual books as well as additional thematic art activities.
This new program is a hit with the students and teachers.
