IT DOESN’T GET ANY SWEETER THAN THIS!
The Kindergartners and preschoolers had a sweet treat this week when former preschool teacher Susan Gavens visited them and explained the process of harvesting honey.

The students eagerly listened to Mrs. Gavens as she explained how bees gather nectar and pollen and turn both into honey. Students were thrilled to have the opportunity to try on the beekeepers regalia. A honeycomb illustrated to our students how honey is extracted. What better way could there be to prepare for a sweet year then studying about honey!

Many thanks to Mrs. Gavens for the “sweet” presentations.

MIDDOT PROGRAM
Middot are those positive attributes that we all strive to inculcate into our children. This year the theme is “Respect.” Each month we will be focusing on another aspect of respect. The theme for this month is: Our School is Neat! – Respecting our School Environment!

The teachers are discussing with all students from 1st – 8th grades the importance of valuing our school and respecting it. Students in each grade have been setting goals e.g. keeping our classroom neat, cubbies clean or help clean up the grounds of the school! Some of the grades have made posters to hang around the school and in the lunchroom.

This week’s activity for the 1st – 4th grades was to decorate postcards depicting “our school is neat” and many of them will be hung on the Middot bulletin board.
