The SPHDS LIBRARY
The library consists of a collection of approximately 8000 titles, consisting mainly of books, but also including videos and books on tape.

The collection includes material mainly in English, but there is also a sizable collection in Hebrew to support our Hebrew language program.

We have had support in establishing and continuing the library from the following major donors:

The Elman family to start the Judaic Collection in honor of the bar mitzvah of their son Jeremy.

The Lewis family in honor of the bar mitzvah of their son Julian and also in memory of Julian’s great grandfather, John H. Graubart.

LIBRARY HOURS
Tuesday 8:15 to 4 pm
Wednesday 8:15 to 4 pm.

Students in grades 1-8 have regular, assigned weekly library sessions.

In addition, students may come in during recess or during lunch.

Parents are welcome to borrow books as well during the hours the library is open.

The librarian collaborates with the teachers to aid in research projects as well as provide guidance for reading assignments for the students.

BORROWING MATERIALS
All materials must be checked out at the desk before leaving the library. The normal time limit is one week. To renew books, please bring them to the library.

Overdue- teachers are given weekly lists of overdue books and students are expected to return them as soon as possible.

Lost books
If books can not be found, the parent is liable for the replacement cost of the book and a processing fee.

Computers in the library
There are 2 computers available for students to search the online catalog of library material and search the Internet for research.
